My Fam at DWNTN '81 said it best, "being ahead of your time can be a gift and a curse...but at least you're early." that is currently where I feel I am at with my music career at this moment. I know im good (Pretty Good even), AHEAD OF MY PRIME. Ive just been sitting here putting in the time with this music, only to hold back on it.

Im sorry but Im not for mediocrity. Mediocrity is BY FAR NOT GRATE,NOR GOOD... its just that...mediocre (Your either Good or Bad at what you do, there is No middle ground). An I cant give you that, I shouldnt have to worry about what some else is going to think of my songs first, so Im being the utmost honest with myself about my craft. Im not in this to be a 5min Super Star, I want FAR MORE for myself as an artist.

I LOVE doing what I do. Ive been waiting to meet people and labels even(an I have) that are artist driven and sympathetic to what im trying to do & are happy/willing to help me as to what it is that im trying to do. There isnt just one path to this, Im open minded as to whats been put in-front of me and follow the "Yellow brick road" to get to 'Emerald City'. Bob Baker said "Don't let your circumstances deter you!..." and I dont, I make songs out of them.

Independent artists who want their CD's stocked in their local Best Buy stores are being told to pay a $250 non-refundable upfront fee and to use a preferred vendor, the RegionalCD.net division of J Distribution

Best Buy's official web site instructs indie and regional artists: "If you are ready to take your band to the next level, find out more by visiting RegionalCD.net." On that site, founded by a "former regional buyer for Best Buy," artists are told to send a J Distribution a CD for review. If selected, the first shipment must be accomponied by a $250 non-refundable "start-up fee".

The J Distribution site does not tell artists what wholesale price it is paying for the CD's that Best Buy will sell or what the return policy is. But normal industry margins run $3-$6 to the artist after packing, manufacturing and shipping (not including recording and promotion costs) are deducted. At that rate, an indie act would have to sell 40 to 80 CD's just to recoup its $250 "start-up" cost.
